Roblox Cover Art Review

Roblox

Not recommended, and it moved here from a cautious yes. The account type still matters enormously if Roblox is staying in your house, and Kids or Select beats a default account by a wide margin. I'd rather tell you plainly that I wouldn't set it up at all.

No
Solo only Online co-op Online vs. Cross-play
Ages 5 to 8 on Roblox Kids, 9 to 15 on Roblox Select, regular accounts only for older kids with chat off and controls active.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land scene with Kirby exploring an abandoned cityscape with Bandana Waddle Dee. Review
Filed May 14Switch

Kirby and the Forgotten Land

Green light for 5 and up. Kirby and the Forgotten Land is the gentlest 3D platformer on Switch, with optional co-op for support and no online safety surface to manage.

Yes
Solo only Couch co-op
Ages 5 and up. The first-3D-platformer pick for kids who can't yet handle Mario Odyssey.
Fall Guys Game, dozens of colorful blob characters racing through an obstacle course. Review
Filed May 14PC

Fall Guys

Cautious yes for 7 and up. Fall Guys gameplay is gentle slapstick. The Epic Games account, Cabined Account flow under 13, and Show-Bucks gating are the actual setup work.

Cautious yes
Couch co-op Online vs. Cross-play
Ages 7 and up. The slapstick gameplay is gentle; the Epic account setup is the harder part.
Overcooked 2 Official Cover Art Review
Filed May 14PC

Overcooked 2

Green light for 6 and up. Overcooked 2 has no online safety surface to manage. The conversation is about co-op chaos: which levels work for a younger kid and when to keep the game on easy.

Yes
Solo only Couch co-op Local multi Online co-op Cross-play
Ages 6 and up in couch co-op. Early levels are gentle; later levels frustrate younger kids in mixed-ability play.
Among Us crewmate characters in a meeting voting on who the impostor is. Review
Filed May 14iPhone / iPad

Among Us

Cautious yes for 9 and up. Among Us is a chatroom that occasionally has a task in it. Local games and friend-only lobbies are the easy yes; public lobbies need the parent-permission flow first.

Cautious yes
Local multi Online co-op Online vs. Cross-play
Ages 9 and up. Local play is the floor; public lobbies need the under-13 parent-permission flow first.
Rocket League video game, two rocket-powered cars chasing a giant soccer ball on a stadium pitch. Review
Filed May 14PC

Rocket League

Cautious yes for 8 and up. Rocket League is cars playing soccer, but the Epic ecosystem and the Quick Chat lobby behavior are where the actual parent setup work lives.

Cautious yes
Solo only Couch co-op Online co-op Online vs. Cross-play
Ages 8 and up. The car-soccer gameplay is fine; the lobby chat is what the cautious-yes is about.

Where every review landed.

Four buckets. No five-star ratings, just whether you should let the kid play, and what to set up first.

18.

Yes

Hand it over. Default-safe out of the box.

6.

Cautious yes

Worth playing, with the right rails on.

0.

Not yet

Depends on the kid, or the right call is to wait a year and look again.

1.

No

Skip. We'd rather they wait, or play something else.

The same investigation, sliced by shape.

Useful when you know the shape of the problem but not the title.

Splatoon 3Switch8 and up. The shooter framing scares parents off a Nintendo game that's safer than most family picks. YesMay 14, 2026
SnipperclipsSwitch5 and up. Two-player co-op only realistically; the puzzles require the second player. No reading needed. YesMay 14, 2026
Sackboy: A Big AdventurePlayStation3 and up, with the co-op format actually lowering the floor since older players can carry younger ones. YesMay 13, 2026
Lil Gator GameSwitch, PC6 and up. Short main story (4-6 hours). The Breath-of-the-Wild-vibe answer for kids who can't yet handle the difficulty. YesMay 14, 2026
Astro's PlayroomPlayStationPlayed comfortably with our three-year-old. The real question is controller readiness, not whether the game is appropriate. YesMay 13, 2026
Bluey: The VideogameSwitch, PC4 to 7. A first-controller candidate. Couch co-op lowers the floor for younger players. YesMay 14, 2026
Stardew ValleyPC, Switch8 and up. Reading fluency is the real gate. Younger kids find the menus and dialogue overwhelming. YesMay 14, 2026
Mario Kart 8 DeluxeSwitch4 and up with smart steering. Online lobbies skew older and faster, but stay anonymous. YesMay 14, 2026
Astro BotPlayStation3 and up with adult help on the harder bosses. Same gentle range as Playroom, with a few boss spikes that may need a parent. YesMay 13, 2026
It Takes TwoPC, Switch10 and up. The divorce framing is the gating factor, not the gameplay. Younger kids miss the meaning; older kids get more out of it. Cautious yesMay 14, 2026
Pokemon Scarlet & VioletSwitch7 and up. Reading-fluent helps but the menus do a lot of the work for less fluent readers. YesMay 14, 2026
Nintendo Switch SportsSwitch4 and up. Motion controls are the equalizer; preschoolers and grandparents both play without learning anything new. YesMay 14, 2026
Clash RoyaleiPhone / iPad, AndroidESRB E10+, App Store 9+, but in practice closer to 12+ because of the economic design, not the content. Cautious yesMay 13, 2026
LEGO Games (Series)Switch, PC5 and up depending on the IP. Most LEGO games are E10+. The Star Wars and Skywalker Saga entries are the easiest entry points. YesMay 14, 2026
Super Mario Bros. WonderSwitch5 and up. Badges scale the difficulty floor; four-player local co-op gets chaotic but stays fun. YesMay 14, 2026
Animal Crossing: New HorizonsSwitch5 and up. Reading helps but isn't required. The friend-code multiplayer makes online play uniquely safe. YesMay 14, 2026
MinecraftPC, iPhone / iPad7+ in single-player with sensible defaults, younger with parent co-play. Multiplayer is setup-dependent. YesMay 13, 2026
FortnitePC, Switch11 to 12 with rails on. 13 plus is the smoother fit. Cabined Account flow is the real safety story for under-13s. Cautious yesMay 14, 2026
AstroneerPC, Switch7 and up. The Minecraft-but-calmer pick. Reading-fluent helps but isn't required for the basic loop. YesMay 14, 2026
